Click here to shop for Hovercraft kits at Hobbytron RC hovercraft kits. If you don't want to build your own rc hovercraft but really just want to open the box and be ready to take it for a spin in 30 minutes you should get a kit. RC hovercraft kits makes it considerably easier but ofcourse you won't have very much influence on the details, such as how it's going to look or how big it will be. Below you can read about two popular rc hovercraft kits on the market. Below you can read what we think about two of the rc hovercrafts available in the shops: 1. Megatech Mega-Gator RC Hovercraft kits. The 13.75'' Mega-Gator rc hovercraft kits from Megatech is actually not a real hovercraft as it doesn't 'float' in the way you would expect a hovercraft to do. It comes in an all included package - remote control, batteries, etc. and it is quickly put together. The Gator runs on water, ice, snow and other slippery surfaces but not on ground as it doesn't really float. It will run faster than most hovercrafts - up to 30 MPH on ice (we haven't actually tested this) and 15 mph on water. A real floating rc hovercraft won't go anywhere nearly as fast. All in all this is a nice swamp boat that will provide plenty of action, but not the features of a real hovercraft. | | 2. Taiyo Edge RC Hovercraft kits. As opposed to the Mega-Gator this rc hovercraft kit is actually a real hovercraft that actually floats. It works in the same way a real hovercraft would work - by pushing a flow of air down that the hovercraft 'floats' on. It's direction is controlled by two fans that will direct air in either direction you want to go. The 3 channel remote is rather basic, so even younger members of the family can control the craft fairly easily and with speeds of up to 2.5 MPH it won't get completely out of hand. | | | This hovercraft is an amphibious craft so it will run on most surfaces like the ground, water, ice, etc. but not on surfaces that are too soft like non-compressed snow for instance. All in all a fun toy for most ages which is maneuverable and not very fast though. If you want something fast the Mega-Gator above is a better option. | BACK : RC Hovercraft HOME : RC Cars guide
