RC boats modeling is a fun and rewarding hobby, and best of all it doesn't have to be very expensive. Almost any type of boat can be created as an RC model, so it's up to you to choose which one is right for you. Here are a few of your options:

Speed boats Fun and fast
Sailboats Nice and quiet
Hovercrafts Runs on land and sea
Hydroplanes Devilish speed

You can buy an rc boat as a kit and build it yourself, or if you're just starting out, we recommend getting a RTR (ready-to-run) model. It doesn't need to be painted and it's practically ready to set sail at right out of the box. With an rc boat kit you will need to put a bit more work into the actual assembling of the boat. The kits come with both gas and electric engines but the RTR models are usually electric and include everything you need to get started.
Follow the links below for examples of both types:

Ready to run (RTR) - mainly electrical rc boats
Gas RC boats (kits) - gas rc boats

Electric vs gas powered rc boats
If you are going with a radio controlled sailboat, naturally the wind will be your engine, but if you have the need for speed a gas powered rc boat offer furious speeds, but often an electric boats are quite fast too.

Electric rc boats A popular choice of beginners
Gas powered rc boats The fastest around, but usually for the more experienced

We would love to see some of your reviews on the rc boats you have tried out. You will be credited for anything you write, but at this time we can't offer any payment. Please send an email to reviews@rc-cars-guide.com with your review. Go ahead and add any picture you might have of your boat also.
